I have returned

I am back from my one week of preparations. The Witch of the Books was in quite an amiable mood when I submitted my records to her, and that’s always a plus. However, it seems I came in too late. My salary will not be released this month (I will have two months worth next month). Fortunately, I still have my last Squire allowance coming up, so I think I can get by.

Things are getting quite… I don’t know… interesting, to say the least. There’s no turning back now. It seems I am really set to take over the operations of the Southern Provinces Security Service. Training for the duties as head is coming up this week. I wonder if I’m really ready and capable of handling such a responsibility. I hope so, but still, I am anxious. I’ve never been to the Southern Provinces before, and I know nothing of its Lords and Ladies, the threats they face, the requests they will make of me, and temperament of each. I’m also wary of the training. Will it be enough? Two-hour sessions for three days…

I will also be the primary guard next week… I hope nothing escapes my watch.

Bah! What talk is this? If the enemy comes, let them come! They will find out just how hard it is to get past the strength of my wits and the edge of my sword.
